  Description

Brembo Radial Master Cylinder has made the history of Racing Brake System, it's the most used MotoGP or SBK master cylinder and it is the market leader.

For twin disc systems, Brembo common radial master cylinders are 19 x 18 and 19 x 20, and for Nissin is 19x21.
The choice between these models is due to the different feeling that each of them gives to the rider: the 19 x 18 is the extremest version, the shorter wheelbase is preferred by riders who like more power and excellent progressiveness, with a working stroke slightly shorter than the 19x20, the 19 x 20 is the "ready" version, the longer the wheelbase is, the shorter lever runs, as well less power is transferred to the piston.

Brembo 19RCS Adjustable Ratio combines in one product two aims.

Adjustable ratio: RCS system
This new patented device allows to modify the pump lever ratio on two values, 18 or 20 mm, by simply rotation of the eccentric drive placed on the front of the lever drive. By the RCS system – Ratio Click System – it is very easy to pass from one configuration to the other one, modifying the lever ratio to adjust it to the different characteristics of the braking system, of the usage and driving, such as, for ex., the wet or dry conditions, asphalt with more or less grip, circuit with strong braking.
This adjustment is the element missing till now to get the ideal feeling among the rider, the driving style, the bike and the circuit.
NB. The red spot on the eccentric drive identifies position 18mm of the lever ratio, while black indicates position 20mm.
MotoGP Floating Piston
The inner piston, seals, push rod are the same as the majority of the MotoGP and SBK riders use.
Brake master cylinder carries out a crucial job during the braking and the usage of the MotoGP parts guarantee excellent performances in all usage conditions because of the very reduced manufacturing tolerances and of the very good smoothness.
Master cylinder body
The master cylinder body is in aluminium alloy, produced by forging and then CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machined by lightening milling.
Very closed manufacturing tolerances, similar to those used in MotoGP, guarantee the perfect matching with the floating piston due to a working precision never seen. For the superficial finishing it has been chosen the hard anodizing, electrolytic process which converts the surface of aluminium and its alloys into a vary hard oxide coating which guarantees very high resistance to abrasion and corrosion.
Brake lever
The lever is made of two main components: the racing lever drive and the lever itself, folding and manufactured by forging. In the lever joint it has been inserted a patented system which allows the rotation only by the effect of an eventual tumble of the bike, without the possibility of an accidental rotation and getting in this way a bigger dynamic
safety.
The control for the lever distance adjustment from the handlebar has been re-placed and now it is in axis with the lever itself, guaranteeing the assembly of the eventual remote adjuster.
By using this control, the press push rod does not move in respect to the master cylinder body, keeping the best working angle of the push rod. Therefore, either by getting the brake lever closer or farer to the handlebar, the efficiency of the kinematics motion does not change, assuring less friction and lack of scattered forces.
In addition the lever has its fulcrum on the pump body by mean of a bushing/gauged pin system which guarantees high stiffness and better feeling together with a high resistance to wear.

Micro-switch
A special housing has been designed for the rear stop light mechanic micro switch, for street usage of the master cylinder. The micro-switch is supplied in the same master cylinder package.
The switch works "normally open" when the lever rests; by pressing the lever it closes the circuit. The switch can not replace a switch that works "normally closed", such as BMW switches. You can purchase optional switch available in the linked products.

Lever contrast springs
High load springs have been chosen to guarantee the constant contact between the eccentric drive and the push rod; in this way you can avoid wear due to the knocking by the vibrations of the vehicle and an item of further safety is introduced in the transient phase between accelerator release and brake, resulting in an advantageous life increase of the various components.

19RCS , 17RCS, 15RCS, 14RCS ? These numbers identify piston diameter:

  • 19RCS to be installed on twin disks bikes with axial or radial calipers but NOT on Floating Calipers
  • 17RCS to be installed on twin disks bikes with axial or radial calipers whose pistons diameter is 32mm or lower, but NOT on Floating Calipers; for example Ducati Panigale or RSV4, Yamaha R6 etc etc.
  • 15RCS to be used on twin disks braking system carrying floating calipers (Naked), and on single disk bikes (motard).
    The 15 RCS with 15 x 20 set up works like a 16 x 18 mc, while 15 x 18 equals a 16 x 16 mc.
  • 14RCS to be installed on single/twin disks Scooters and single disks Motorcycles (from 50cc up to 600cc) . Available both Right and Left Side.

Fits a M10x1,0 mm bajo adapter (normaly japan bikes has M10x1,25mm one).
Oem axial master cylinder brakes hoses could not fit radial mc, we can supply specific brake hoses or the adaptor.

Hi, what is your view of RCS(19x18-20) and 1199 (Brembo M50's) as OEM M50 and OEM master = 28:1 ratio and RCS = 19.9 ratio given OEM master is 201sq.mm and RCS is 284sq.mm i.e RCS very wooden? would you agree best is stay stock or have little feedback as RCS is poor ratio with M50's? Many thanks Arthur Rudd.
15/01/2013
Answer:
Your question is interesting and will be published both in the Italian and English support, your question short translation in Italian will be (in 6 words) "la 19RCS è adatta alla Panigale ?" The English translation is:• OE MC- piston diameter 18 mm with fixed ratio 19 mmBased on these data and mounting a 19RCS the lever will be much more wooden, (as he writes) and will also have less range due to the reduction of the idle stroke than the OEM mc but I think it still can be used on this bike.We installed the 19RCS also on Yamaha R6 and R1 on the old caliper piston caliper that have diameters smaller (27x2 + 30x2) than the M50 (30x4) and we never had any complaints about a lack of feeling or modulation. If the client is looking for a mc that has a softer lever and with a longer stroke could mount a 15RCS but at his own risk, for example if he has a big shaking, the brake pads will move away too much from the disk and the rider might pump the lever in vain.

Question:
What master cylinder do you recommend for 2002 CBR 600 F4i with stock calipers. Thank you.

Question:
well i am confused for the vfr 800 vtec because there are two different answers from you about this bike.in another answer you suggest the 19rcs for an abs model and now you suggest the 15rcs for a non abs model.does the abs makes the differrence or something else, because all the vtec have the same brakes.Thank you in advance.
10/04/2013
Answer:
There is not a "single and right answer" because VFR800 has an hybrid brake system: calipers are 3 pistons each but floating. 19RCS will give you more power but the stroke of the lever will be very short. 15RCS will give you less power than 19RCS but much more than stock mc. So both are correct.

Question:
I have a REPSOL HONDA CBR1000RR 2009 MODEL and was looking at purchasing the BREMBO 19RCS. Can you please tell if it will work on my model bike and what other accessories will I need to purchase for everything to work. Kindest Regards.

You just need the connecting bolt, M10x1mm single.

Question:
I have a 2009 RSV 1000R Factory, am I right in saying that if I choose to up-grade I would require a 19RCS Brake and a 16RCS clutch, which should be a direct swap for the OEM Brembo MCs? No change of clutch slave? What would the main difference be from the standard OEM Bermbo MCs?Thank you, great site!
31/05/2013
Answer:
Yes both mc will install on your bike, clutch slave won't be changed. For the difference please compare our product sheet with your oem specifics. In few words: Brake more power, clutch smoother.

Question:
hi im riding a tmax 530. is this brake pump suitable? if its not then which type do u recommend?
01/07/2013
Answer:
Many TMAX riders use this mc but it is too big for TMAX 530 with stock disks and stock calipers. I suggest 15RCS .

Question:
Hi. I own a R1 2013 model. Does RCS19 master cyclinder really makes a different?
20/01/2014

RCS used with 18mm ratio is different from every oe master cylinder. Usually the oe mc use a 21mm ratio (not diameter), then the R1 oe mc is not a true radial mc , it is not radial (perpendicular to the handle).

Hi, I bought such a 19 RCS from you but when i try to fit it to my ducati 998s (2002) there's no way to fit it without it touching the rev counter when i turn the handle bars full to the left (the break is bigger than the standard one). Is this something i should worry about or simply ignore the fact?
23/03/2014
Answer:
You should not worry, but if you want to do a perfect job you can limit the steering. All race motorcycle limit the steering.

Question:
What Brembo front brake radial master cylinder would you recommend for a 1996 Triumph Trophy 900. Thanks Magger

Question:
Hi, I have a zx10r 2013,Do I need anything else to install it on my bike? I had already purchased Fren Tubo brake line on my bike.
07/07/2014
Answer:
You need a compatible Banjo Bolt, M10x1mm single if ONE brake line arrives to oe mc. RCS comes already with a M10x1mm double banjo bolt therefore if TWO lines arrive to the mc you dont need to purchase anything else.

Question:
I am a new fish in modifying motorbikes and my one is 2010 Honda CBR600RR (not ABS). What I get from this Q&A session are this master cylinder set included 19RCS MC and a double banjo bolt. And a single M10x1mm banjo bolt is recommended for fix the brake line. Before I make my order, I would like to clarify:1. Are there anything else that have to be ready for ensure the brake light works fine? Brake light switch? Micro switch? 2. Which Brembo clutch lever is recommended for my bike? Does that one be adjustable like other OEM clutch levers, for example, Rizoma?3. Are there anything else that have to be ready if I keep using the stock reservoir?
08/07/2014
Answer:
You don't need any switch, you will connect your wires to Brembo switch, they are not plug and play but it is really simple. Clutch lever to match the look is listed in this page. I suggest to install trying to use stock reservoir to save money, but if you like a perfect mount you can purchase the specific reservor + bracket kit, also listed inside this page.

Question:
Hello Carpimoto team,I would like to make one thing clear for many of us. I was reading regarding usage that for extreme braking power / track usage is recommended to use 20 mm ratio, while 18 is for street. Even Brembo site is saying something about it, also many members of different forums confirmed it. Please could you provide us your actual statement to make this thing clear? Thank you verych.
11/07/2014
Answer:
I use 20 for street, 18 for track. Brembo CNC Racing Master Cylinders are 19x18 or 19x16 . There are no professional riders that use the "20" ratio .

Question:
Hi, I will be using 2 Tokiko radial calipers on the front of my bike off a suzuki hayabusa. What master cylider would you suggest for a progressive feel ? Also I am using 1 of the same radial calipers on the rear and need to operate the rear brake caliper off the left handelbar. What left hand ratio would you suggest with a progressive feel for the rear?

Usually Tokico radial caliper requires a 15 or 16 mm mc If used on one disk motorcycles and 19 mm when two calipers work on two front disks motorcycles.

ALSO, THE 17 RCS CLUTCH PUMP , IS THE 16 RCS STILL THE BEST BET, BUT I AM PLANNING ON SOME FUTURE CLUTCH MODS TO MOTOR, AND WONDERING WHAT YOU GUYS THINK , GO WITH 16 ON AS IS STOCK AND UPGRADE AGAIN LATER TO 17 OR 19 LATER ? 17RCS is the matching mc on GP4RX , but on Hayabusa I would use 19RCS btw. Because I think who owns such a striking bike wants more power than modulability. For Clutch I will choose now 16RCS and maybe in the future upgrade to 19RCS Clutch if you change master slave cylinder.

In any case is not a 19mm.

I have a 2011 ktm 990 adventure. Twin front discs with ABS and want more stopping power with a much lighter feel. Would the 15rcs work?
28/09/2016
Answer:
Hi, 15RCS is recommended for twin disks and 4 pistons like your Adventure. BTW you could move also to 17RCS but you will lose modulability and won't be the best choice on dirt. If you have hand guards we suggest you 15RCS with short lever, code 110A26320.

Question:
Hello, I am thinking but unsure if a 14RCS or 15RCS would be suitable for a Guzzi 850T, using two discs and two Brembo 08 calipers. What would you suggest?(I think each caliper has two 38mm pistons)
30/10/2016
Answer:
"I think" in this case is very dangerous. I checked our Moto Guzzi OEM part database and found that 850 T use a dedicated Brake system: the front right caliper only is pushed by front master cylinder, while front left + rear are pushed by the rear master cylinder. If your Guzzi is ste as I wrote you shall use a 13mm caliper. 14RCS would have a big effect on the caliper and you risk to have more power than you need. I don't want to tell you you can't use it but I can't confirm.

my bike is 2011 honda cbr 600rr,  what is the difference between 16RCS, 17RCS, and 19RCS. which one comes with the brake light switch? thank you so much
11/01/2017
Answer:
16RCS is a clutch mc, 17 and 19 are brake mc , the number 17 and 19 is the diameter. 17 and 19 comes with brake light

Question:
I see you just talked about 17 and 19RCS, what is their difference as far as performance? thank you
11/01/2017
Answer:
Over the past two years, first in MotoGP and then on SuperSport street motorcycles, Brembo has introduced new radial calipers with a smaller piston diameter. The last generation calipers have a much higher modulability than the larger pistons calipers, reducing braking distances in the straight and increasing speed along corners, so far you can also brake along the first part of the corner and when you stop braking the load transfer between front and rear is smoother. The motorcycles that have benefited immediately are the Ducati Panigale with Brembo M50 calipers and Aprilia RSV4 with M430 calipers .Along with these calipers a different master cylinder is required, , that's why Brembo has introduced the 17RCS . The main difference with 19RCS is that 17RCS is smoother and has more modulability, while 19RCS has more power and less modulability. 17RCS shall not be used on motorcycles that use a stock 19mm piston master cylinder.

Question:
You stated in one of your answers that the included brake light switch isn't totally plug and play but that the modification is "easy". I have a 2008 CBR 1000, and my Brembo RCS has the brake light switch, but the wires don't fit the way it is in stock form. What is this "easy" modification that you wrote about? Is it splicing the wires together? Does it matter in what order they are in? Please explain- thank you in advance for your help.
03/07/2017
Answer:
Hello, the brake light switch included in 19 RCS has two wires. You will connect one wire to one oem brake light wire and the the other wire to the other oem brake light wire. It's non important in what order they are in. It's very simple.

Question:
Hello, on my Yamaha R6/2015 I'm using Brembo Rcs19 and braided brake lines. I'm planning to buy Brembo M4 calipers with proposed spacers in your page; 220A06115. With this combination are they fit to the original 310mm discs or do I need to change the discs with 320mm? The bike is nearly brand new with orginal suspensions. Do you think to put the M4s after RCS19 make sense on racetrack? (Trackday performance rides only-not racing)
19/09/2017
Answer:
Hello, spacers 220A06115 works with original discs. RCS19 + M4 is a good combination for track use. It's not extreme, but It gives you more braking power.

Question:
Hello, I have a BMW HP4 and would like to fit this product or the Corsa Corta 110C74010, In the description you say that the supplied micro with with this lever is incompatible with the BMW so which switch is available so my brake lights still function correctly? Please supply the link to the part.
03/10/2017
Answer:
At the time we wrote the product note , few months ago, Brembo sent us a specific switch for BMW , but this switch did not work as promised and we sent back. Right now we are waiting a new solution, well we found a soultion but it is pretty expensive (about 70 euro). We are working for a cheap switch to sell on our site.

Question:
Hello, Regarding the above post ^ , I have done some of my own research and the BMW HP4 does not have a micro but an internal switch in the ABS pump; therefor eliminating the need for an external microswitch. Wouldn't this be correct?
04/10/2017
Answer:
Thanks for your time to check and add comments to this page. We also asked Brembo, they said they don't know if HP4 has this feature, they know that 2017 S1000RR has this feature. Then we checked on realoem BMW parts finder if it uses a different ABS: it is different and called Modulator ABS Sport. The final check will be if your oem master cylinder have a switch , does it have or not ? Looking in the spare part catalogue is not included so far but you might check directly.

Question:
^ I have checked with BMW in Australia and they confirmed that the switch is internal in the ABS pump on the HP4
06/10/2017
Answer:
Thanks. I appreciate .

Brake Fluid: Brembo LCF 600 or Motul 660. Pads: The best are Brembo Z04 and SBS DS but they are very expensive. A good pad with excellent price is Brembo RC, or SBS DC. DID ZCOO have the best price/quality ratio.

Question:
To upgrade to an RCS19 on my 16 RSV4 do I not need to get brembo brake fluid reservoir and a different tread banjo bolt like it’s needed on Japanese bikes , since my bike came with a brembo m/c from factory ?
24/02/2018
Answer:
To use a RCS master cylinder on a bike that already use a Brembo radial master cylinder like RSV4 there is no need to change the bolt. The reservoir is different then should be adapted, we can't confirm it is plug and play so far.

Question:
I have 2013 zx10r (non and). I just changed my MC to RCS19. Still running stock tokico calipers. Would the MC ruin the calipers if I take it to the track? If to change to brembo calipers, which would you recommend ? Many thanks
27/03/2018

A master Cylinder can't ruin calipers, for sure not your Tokico. I suggest to browse our site filtered by your motorcycle and by Brembo brand. In the Category Brakes > Calipers you can find a selection of calipers, the choice depends on your budget.

Question:
hello, i want to install this master cylinder on my gp800 and i wonder if theres something for my left brake master cylinder that fits.(it must have a stop switch)Thanks in advance
13/04/2018
Answer:
First of all, I need to tell you that since GP800 has two floating calipers with 2 pistons, if you want to stop the wheel you can use a 19RCS, but if you want to brake you better use the right RCS size as per what we wrote so many times to other customers :) .For left brake use a 14RCS or 16RCS radial clutch master cylinder, add a Brake Light Switch 10x1.0 mm, for one banjo for stop switching .

Question:
I have a Moto Guzzi California Stone that has a single front disc. I would like to fit a second front disc and caliper and operate them both from the front master cylinder rather than the usual Moto Guzzi linked brake system. I will need a larger bore master cylinder to do this. Would the 17RCS be suitable?
21/05/2018
Answer:
Yes , 17RCS will be correct.

Question:
I have a ZXR 400 race bike, used only on track, fitted with Ø310 mm twin discs and 6 pot TOKICO calipers off GSXR, and planning to swop for Nissin calipers. What would you recommend for this lighter machine, would the RCS19 be too aggressive? I need a full kit, with reservoir and your prices are competitive. Await your response. Thanks!
29/05/2018
Answer:
If I understood well you ride with very old 6 pistons Tokico caliper, used on GSXR at the end of the 90s, for example GSXR 750 96-97-98 . At that time these bikes used the 16mm Nissin axial master cylinders. The choice of the master cylinder could be a 17RCS or a 19RCS , but the right race master cylinder , I mean for track, is the 19x18 , which was the master cylinder that every rider used on track at that times with these calipers. For sure will be very aggressive and less modulable of a 17mm, but this is a personal choice in any case.

Question:
Hello,Can I fit (is it advisable) the 19RCS on my 1999 Honda CBR600 F4. Thank you
18/06/2018
Answer:
It fits. However a 19mm master cylinder will be very powerful and not modulable, then we do not recommed for street use. You better iinstall a 17RCS or at least a Nissin 19x21mm master cylinder.

Question:
Hi, Is the pump compatible with CBR1000RR 2012 ABS model? Thanks

11/11/2018
Answer:
RCS16 is a Clutch Master Cylinder. You can use 17RCS or 19RCS for Brake. Please read the Q&A we already provided about differences.
